life on the water.

Layouts, fresh water, electricity and everyday comfort — a practical guide to planning your Campi houseboat.

Discuss your houseboat project ↗

A houseboat project starts with how you want to spend your time: weekends away, longer stays or a waterfront accommodation business. The right layout matters, but so do the services available at your mooring. This guide brings together published Campi information and general UK boating guidance; your quotation should confirm the exact boat and equipment supplied.

A layout that suits your day

Campi’s published New Marina 300 layout describes a living space with kitchenette, a bedroom, bathroom and terrace access. Campi 400 is described with two bedrooms. Start by considering who will stay aboard, the beds you need and how you would like to use the living space. New Marina 300 specification · Campi 400 specification.

Bring your preferences for interior finishes, furniture, kitchen appliances, storage and terrace use to the consultation. Any alternative layout, finish or extra equipment is a request for the manufacturer to assess and quote; availability is not implied by the photographs. Obtain an agreed floor plan and equipment schedule before ordering.

Where does the fresh water come from?

A tank-based boat carries an onboard supply that is replenished at suitable water points. Canal & River Trust advises using a food-grade hose and keeping it clean; its water-point hoses must not become permanent boat connections. The published New Marina 300 fresh water tank holds 250 litres. Water-point guidance · Campi tank specification.

For your chosen configuration, confirm the pump, pressure, water-heating equipment and filling arrangements. How often you refill depends on occupancy and use, so a tank capacity alone cannot establish days of independence.

What happens to wastewater?

New Marina 300 lists a separate 250-litre wastewater tank. Boats with sewage holding tanks need an appropriate pump-out service; Canal & River Trust explains the available facilities and disposal arrangements. Confirm exactly which drains feed which tanks on your chosen boat, and check access to pump-out facilities before choosing a berth. Published tank capacities · Pump-out information.

Electricity at the marina and away from it

Shore power is an external electrical connection at a serviced berth. Boat Safety Scheme guidance calls for shore cables intended for boats and connectors protected from water. Confirm the berth’s available electrical supply and the vessel’s connection specification together. Shore-power guidance.

A marine battery system stores energy; an inverter converts battery power for AC appliances. Suitable marine systems can charge from shore power, solar or an engine alternator, depending on the equipment fitted. These are general system possibilities, not a statement that every Campi includes each feature. Marine power-system explanation.

Campi publishes 230 V supply and solar panels for New Marina 300 and Campi 400. Ask for the actual panel rating, usable battery capacity, inverter output and charging equipment in your quotation. Match the design to your appliances, intended season and shore-power access. A larger battery or extra solar is a configuration request to assess, not a promise of unlimited off-grid living. Heating, cooking and hot water

The published New Marina 300 specification describes a gas boiler, radiators and a two-burner gas cooker. Confirm hot-water production, heating capacity and the fuel arrangement for your selected configuration. If you prefer electric cooking or another heating system, request a feasibility review alongside the electrical design. Manufacturer’s equipment description.

Your mooring is part of the specification

Confirm berth dimensions, access, available services and permitted use early. A leisure berth does not automatically establish permission for residential occupation. Canal & River Trust distinguishes leisure and residential moorings; accommodation businesses may also need planning approval and the relevant operator’s agreement.
